Christian Nationalism: Origins and Implications

Sep 15, 2024 In this Santa Fe Distinguished Lecture Series program anthropologist Alma Gottlieb interviews authors Diane Winston and Ron Duncan Hart on their recent books. Prof. Winston is an historian of religion, and she discusses the background of White Christian nationalism in Western civilization and the United States with particular attention to the Reagan years when this Christian movement was being politicized. Prof. Duncan Hart discusses the ethnographic study he did in the Atlanta neighborhood of Cabbagetown that documented the roots in that community of making America great again as a Christian nation, based on extensive interviews with people in the community and preachers in churches.
