Check out the brand new New Mexico Jewish Journal

A group of Jewish editors, writers and professionals came together over the last nine months to create a new independent, statewide online Jewish publication – see link below. The group recognized the vacuum that existed after the New Mexico Jewish Link ceased publication in 2022. Many meetings and hours of research, discussion, and planning resulted in the launch of the New Mexico Jewish Journal. The Jewish Community Foundation is proud to support this important community effort. Take a look and consider subscribing!

The Jewish Community Foundation of New Mexico partners with individuals and organizations throughout New Mexico to strengthen and inspire a vibrant, caring Jewish community today…and ensure a Jewish tomorrow.

The Foundation strives to:

  • Identify and help address evolving community needs,
  • Educate about the power and joy of philanthropy,
  • Inspire donors to match their values with their valuables to affect the community now and in the future, and
  • Help donors of all ages, backgrounds and affiliations to give where and how they choose.

The Foundation provides options for individuals and families to engage in effective, meaningful charitable giving – consistent with the donor’s goals. It also offers endowment management to synagogues and organizations that wish to establish a permanent funding source to support their mission.

In collaboration with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, the Life & Legacy initiative was introduced in 2019 to Assure Jewish Tomorrows in New Mexico. More than 325 endowment donors have made commitments to provide after-lifetime or current gifts to support their local Jewish organizations (in Albuquerque, Los Alamos & Santa Fe).

The Foundation administers a Community Fund to help maintain and enhance Jewish life in New Mexico. Due to the Jewish Federation of New Mexico’s (JFNM) dissolution in December 2022, the Foundation redirected assets to make one-time transition grants in 2023 to 15 organizations that had received support from JFNM. The Foundation partnered with the JCC of Greater Albuquerque in 2023 to make sure the Jewish Care Program’s vital services remained available to the community.

Annual scholarships from funds at the Foundation help:
  • Send Jewish youth to sleep-away camp and on Israel experience trips
  • Make college a bit more affordable

80 scholarships were awarded to NM youth in the past 10 years.

Grants from the Immigrant & Refugee Assistance Fund are awarded annually to local organizations that provide education, workforce development opportunities, legal assistance and social services.
